About Rotary Coimbatore Midtown

Rotary Club of Coimbatore Midtown was started in the year 1973 and was sponsored by Rotary Club of Coimbatore West.

This was the third Rotary Club in the city of Coimbatore, then. The territory then, comprised of the Railway line via Mill Road, Thadagam Road and branching off to Vedapatti around the northern boundary of Muthanna Tank.

Then going to the south via the goods-shed road, and along the Railway line to Podanur and beyond. towards Kuniamuthur, Kurichi, Sundakkamuthur, Semmedu, Siruvani, Vellingiri Hills, Perur, Telungupalaym and the heart of the business area of the City. 

The preliminary meeting was held on 18 January 1973 under the Chairmanship of Rtn. PP  Major. N. Krishnaswamy, and the office bearers were elected. The inaugural meeting was held on 31 January 1973, and was inaugurated by Rtn. PDG.R.R.S. Ramanatha Iyer, under the presence of Governor Rtn.Dr. Sundaram. Rtn. PDG.P. Jagatheesan was the Charter President and Rtn.PP. Suresh Gokuldas was the Charter Secretary.

Rotary Club of Coimbatore Midtown has always stood foremost in the field of Community Service and over the years has conducted many Health Camps, Vocational Training, Career Development Programmes, Eye Camps, Polio Corrective Surgery, Polio immunisation and Rehabilitation Aids.

The Project has so far covered 18,850 beneficiaries all over South India since 1990. The amputees who loss their limbs due to Diabetic, Road Accidents etc.. leads a normal life after getting a limb to WALK AGAIN.

The Rotary District has acknowledged this service project as the longest surviving on going project of the Rotary International District 3201.
